A LITTLE GIRL AND A MIRROR …..

You often hear Film Makers comment that capturing good footage of children and animals presents them with a big challenge. Fortunately this was not the case for me.

One day when I was minding my little granddaughter she crawled into one of our rooms which has mirrored cupboard doors. Her uninhibited behavior resulting from seeing someone in the mirror provided the perfect opportunity for me to use my video camera.

Obviously I could not plan this movie, the story simply unfolded before me. As time passed my subject was so engrossed looking at the mirror she appeared to forget that I was even in the room.

Eighteen months later back in front of the mirror little had changed. Perhaps she was slightly more aware of my presence in the room but still totally uninhibited and enjoying the experience of looking at herself in the mirror.

Editing both lots of footage into a one minute movie was difficult as there was plenty of very cute material captured. My aim was to use the footage that best displayed the spontaneity of her actions.
